I'm seeking an Management Accountant to work closely with a Finance Manager and finance team for a wonderful business. This role involves producing management accounts for submission to the CEO each month, supporting the provision of monthly cashflow forecasts and reconciliations, assisting with annual budgeting, and ensuring audit information flow. The successful candidate will also provide cover for the department during team absences or holidays.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Assist with incorporating budget and rolling forecast information into the monthly packs and maintain the numbers with the Finance team.
  • Prepare regular and ad hoc schedules to support the monthly accounts, including accrual and prepayment analysis.
  • Complete month-end work to analyse and post various revenue streams and allocate overhead spend to products.
  • Manage royalty payments to authors and licence owners, ensuring statements are produced and payments are made in accordance with contracts.
  • Oversee the preparation of monthly franchise payment invoices and ensure key balance sheet reconciliations are prepared monthly.
  • Prepare the management accounts, including transaction work for another subsidiary, and work with staff in the UK and one international subsidiary to improve information flow.
  • Calculate commission payments due to staff abroad and provide VAT information to the subsidiary.
  • Maintain financial control, identify any weaknesses, and find suitable solutions with the Finance Manager.
  • Keep the Finance team informed of any statutory regulatory changes to ensure compliance and timely provision of accurate statutory statistics.
  • Ensure team absence for holiday or sickness is covered.
  • Undertake any tasks as reasonably required by the Finance Manager.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience in finance, particularly in management accounts preparation.
  • Strong understanding of financial principles and accounting practices.
  • Ability to work with financial forecasting and reconciliation.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team.
  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple tasks.
