Embedded Systems Engineer

We are seeking an Embedded Systems Engineer to join our product development team. The role involves porting to different processor architectures, testing to recognised safety standards, and producing design and test documentation. This position is based in our Bristol office and is ideal for candidates from the greater Bristol area or within reasonable commuting distance.

Day to Day of the Role:

  • Participate in the development of the SAFERTOS product, ensuring high-quality standards.
  • Port existing software to various processor architectures.
  • Conduct rigorous testing in line with recognised safety standards.
  • Produce comprehensive design and test documentation.
  • Work independently or collaboratively within a small team to deliver specific tasks and projects.
  • Maintain clear and accurate communication with international customers, understanding their needs and nurturing relationships.
  • Travel as required for the role.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Degree in Engineering, Science, Maths, or a related subject.
  • Proficiency in C and assembler programming languages.
  • Solid experience in Embedded Systems Design.
  • Experience in software development within a controlled development environment.
  • Familiarity with ARM Architectures.

Highly Desirable Additional Skills & Experience:

  • Experience with Real Time Operating Systems, ideally FreeRTOS or SAFERTOS.
  • Low-level embedded engineering experience, e.g., working with Cortex M3, M4, A7 processors.
  • Knowledge of safety software development standards such as IEC 61508, DO 178B/C, ISO26262, and IEC 62304.
  • Understanding of networking protocols like TCP and UDP.
  • Experience with embedded software security.
  • Experience with multicore devices and MIPS and Power Architectures.
