Credit Controller

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Credit Controller to join our clients dynamic finance team. The ideal candidate will minimize financial risk to the company by evaluating the creditworthiness of new and existing customers and analyzing credit risk. This role involves close collaboration with Sales and Customer Service departments to maximize sales and cash receipts while mitigating bad debts. Utilizing SAP functionality, the Credit Controller will ensure that both company and customer targets are met efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Credit Evaluation: Research and verify credit data on customers to establish or update credit lines. Assess, recommend, and/or approve credit limits using credit agencies for new and existing accounts within company SLAs.
  • Invoice Dispute Resolution: Investigate and resolve customer invoice disputes to facilitate payment or credit issuance.
  • Account Management: Review customer accounts for aging of unpaid balances, solicit payments on overdue accounts, and place delinquent accounts on hold until payment arrangements are secured.
  • Collections: Follow up on payment arrangements and recommend the transfer of outstanding accounts to collection agencies if necessary.
  • Record Maintenance: Maintain and update electronic and/or hard copy files associated with delinquent accounts, incomplete files, and credit risks in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Cash Collection: Manage cash collection on a ledger exceeding 500 customers, both local and export accounts. Ensure all targets are achieved in line with management directives and goals.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Sales teams to resolve disputes promptly and efficiently.
  • Other Duties: Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Experience: Preferably 5 years in a commercial credit control environment.
  • SAP Knowledge: At least 2 years of experience with SAP.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze financial statements, including balance sheets and profit and loss accounts.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Credit Insurance: Good knowledge of credit insurance.
  • Multi-Currency Accounts: Experience working with multi-currency accounts.

Education and Certification:

  • Qualifications: MICM or accountancy qualification is preferable.
