Apprenticeship Assessor - MOD - Vehicle Maintenance

Salary: £36,400

Contract: Fixed Term (12 months)

Location: Remote with regional travel

Hours: Full-time (37 hours per week)

Role Overview:

As an Apprenticeship Assessor, you'll have a unique role supporting the British Army by ensuring the proper maintenance and readiness of their extensive fleet. Your day-to-day activities will involve visiting Vehicle Mechanic learners at their workplaces, leveraging your vocational experience to deliver learning, coaching, assessment, and support to help them achieve their apprenticeships.

Key Responsibilities of the Apprenticeship Assessor:

  • Support, motivate, and coach learners through their apprenticeship programme.
  • Ensure all components of the apprenticeship are completed in a timely manner and in line with awarding organisation, ESFA, and Ofsted requirements.
  • Monitor and review learners' progress according to customer expectations.
  • Complete required documentation to the correct standards within agreed timelines.
  • Provide portfolio-building advice and guidance based on programme requirements.
  • Record, plan, and track individual learner progress effectively using agreed paperwork and reporting processes.

Essential Experience of the Apprenticeship Assessor:

  • Considerable experience in the vehicle mechanic field.
  • Good understanding of work-based learning programmes.
  • Desired (not essential): Previous experience in the defence sector, ideally within the army.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant industry-related qualification (Vehicle Mechanic minimum of Level 3).
  • Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (desirable).
  • Award/Certificate in Education & Training (or equivalent).
  • Maths and English – GCSE grade C or above (or equivalent).

Security Clearance:

  • Must achieve and maintain SC security clearance, Enhanced DBS, and Child Barring Service clearance.
