Accounts Assistant

We are delighted to present an opportunity for an Accounts Assistant to join a family-run business in Sunderland. The successful candidate will be part of a close-knit team, handling a range of accounting responsibilities, from payroll to bank reconciliations and management account support.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Process weekly and monthly payroll for two entities, ensuring accuracy in timesheets, payroll spreadsheets, and reconciliations.
- Perform weekly and monthly bank reconciliations for currently seven bank accounts.
- Support the preparation of management accounts, including monthly accruals and prepayments.
- Complete month-end activities and ensure timely preparation and posting of journals.
- Conduct bank transfers between internal companies.
- Manage the control and processing of supplier payments and customer refunds on a weekly basis and upon request.
- Provide senior management with relevant financial information as needed.
- Contribute to job costings and the continuous improvement of processes.
- Oversee finance and administrative tasks within the office.
- Maintain an accurate customer database.
- Handle phone and email enquiries efficiently and professionally.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Relevant experience in the accounts sector, particularly in roles similar to an Accounts Assistant.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- A strong commitment to accuracy and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Sage 50 accounts and Sage Payroll.
- Competence in using Microsoft Office suite.
