Purchase Ledger Clerk

  • Annual Salary: £27k - £30k
  • Location: Thorpe Park, Leeds
  • Job Type: Fixed-term contract, full-time (12 months with a possibility to become permanent)

We are seeking an enthusiastic and confident Purchase Ledger Clerk to join our accounts department at our new office premises. The role involves processing and reviewing invoices, maintaining the purchase ledger, bank reconciliations, and providing support to various teams within the organisation.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Process and review invoices with high accuracy, ensuring adherence to company policies.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and assist the Buying team with the PO process as needed.
  • Set up new suppliers and trade accounts, ensuring all documentation is obtained and filed appropriately.
  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve invoice or payment-related issues.
  • Review credit limits and negotiate increases where necessary.
  • Provide data and reports to assist other departments.
  • Handle some sales ledger tasks, such as posting client payment certificates and maintaining client records.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience with Sage 50 accounting software.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of accounts payable processes and procedures.
  • Proficiency with IT systems, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Maths & English GCSE grade C/5 or equivalent.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • At least 1 year of experience in purchase ledger or accounts administration work.
