Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? ASPIRE are seeking dedicated and empathetic individuals to join our team as SEN TA'S, focusing on children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, autism, and trauma.

Role: SEN TA

Location: Kidderminster / Stottesdon

Hours: Full-Time/Part-Time

About the Role:

As a SEN TA, you will work directly with children who have SEMH, autism, and trauma. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Providing Tailored Support: Implementing individualized support plans to address each child's unique needs, including managing episodes of distress.
  • Creating a Safe Environment: Ensuring a safe and supportive environment where children feel secure and valued.
  • Managing Challenging Behaviours: Using effective strategies to de-escalate and manage episodes of distress and physical aggression in a calm and constructive manner.
  • Collaborating with Families and Professionals: Working closely with families, educators, and other professionals to create a comprehensive support network for each child.
  • Promoting Positive Development: Encouraging positive behaviours and emotional regulation through structured routines, positive reinforcement, and engaging activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies to manage and support children with SEMH, autism, and trauma.
  • Recognize and address triggers for distress or aggression, providing immediate and effective support.
  • Maintain clear and compassionate communication with children, families, and team members.
  • Continuously assess and adjust support strategies to meet the evolving needs of each child.
  • Document progress and contribute to regular reviews of each child's support plan.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children with SEMH, autism, or trauma is highly desirable.
  • Level 2 OR 3 qualification with in child care is desirable
  • Strong understanding of behaviour management techniques and crisis intervention strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with children and families.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience in handling challenging situations.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in special education, psychology, or a related field is preferred.
