Location: Kidderminster / Stottesdon
Hours: Full-Time/Part-Time
About the Role:
As a SEN TA, you will work directly with children who have SEMH, autism, and trauma. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Providing Tailored Support: Implementing individualized support plans to address each child's unique needs, including managing episodes of distress.
- Creating a Safe Environment: Ensuring a safe and supportive environment where children feel secure and valued.
- Managing Challenging Behaviours: Using effective strategies to de-escalate and manage episodes of distress and physical aggression in a calm and constructive manner.
- Collaborating with Families and Professionals: Working closely with families, educators, and other professionals to create a comprehensive support network for each child.
- Promoting Positive Development: Encouraging positive behaviours and emotional regulation through structured routines, positive reinforcement, and engaging activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategies to manage and support children with SEMH, autism, and trauma.
- Recognize and address triggers for distress or aggression, providing immediate and effective support.
- Maintain clear and compassionate communication with children, families, and team members.
- Continuously assess and adjust support strategies to meet the evolving needs of each child.
- Document progress and contribute to regular reviews of each child's support plan.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with children with SEMH, autism, or trauma is highly desirable.
- Level 2 OR 3 qualification with in child care is desirable
- Strong understanding of behaviour management techniques and crisis intervention strategies.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with children and families.
- Patience, empathy, and resilience in handling challenging situations.
- Relevant qualifications or training in special education, psychology, or a related field is preferred.
