Brakes – A Sysco Company, are now recruiting for a Solution Architect to join the Technology team on a full time, permanent basis supporting the Supply Chain & Operations network through a period of growth and transformation.

Reporting to the Centre of Technology Director, this role will translate functional and non-functional requirements into technology solutions – presenting options to support decision making that consider both immediate needs and longer-term considerations. You'll serve projects that are part of the Operation and Supply Chain, the particular focus of the role will be centred around data and system integration including D365, Mulesoft and SAP. Describing the structure, characteristics, behaviour, and other aspects of software to stakeholders and articulate how the features, and the functional and non-functional elements of solutions can / or cannot meet the business need and the associated impact. You'll ensure the Technology solutions chosen shall be fit for purpose against the business requirements.

This is a home-based role, however occasional travel across our GB depot network will be required, so flexibility with travel is essential.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

  • The role is accountable for the definition, governance, and documentation of technical solutions for the Brakes business.
  • Documentation and maintenance of solution landscapes, outlines, and designs
  • Attendance at Technical Design Authority (TDA), Cyber Security reviews and Change Management Boards (CAB) where required ensuring agreed actions are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Working closely with the solution architecture community to establish best practice tools / techniques and frameworks for adoption.
  • Establish and adopt standardised design documentation.
  • Support SA community with coaching required to improve overall capability.
  • Implement architecture process improvements based on feedback / lessons learnt from the wider Technology team.
  • Ensure personal knowledge and exposure to application, infrastructure, and data related technological innovation opportunities remains up to date, appropriate and relevant.
  • Attendance at industry forums
  • Continually researching current and emerging technologies and proposing changes where needed

About you:

You'll be currently working as a Solution Architect and have experience of leading solution selection & design across a range of solution sets and markets with knowledge of TOGAF or equivalent architectural frameworks. Experience of working in a Logistics / FMCG environment is required for this role. We're looking for someone who has a good understanding of existing UK solutions (ideally one or more of D365, SAP, Mulesoft, Koerber, APO and Verizon) and in particular proven experience of system and data integration projects. Knowledge of architectural tools and software products and design documentation is essential to successfully support the major transformation projects this role will be supporting. You'll need to be comfortable working within both a waterfall and agile delivery methodology.
