Live-In Lifestyle / Care Assistant for a Disabled PhD Student

We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a master's student at the University of Cardiff. They are studying Politics and International Relations and their thesis is on PIRA bombings during the Northern Ireland conflict. The client suffers from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and as such is a full-time wheelchair user with significant weakness in their arms. They are looking for a PA to assist them with daily life.

Start: End of August / September 2024

Rota: Live-in 7 days on / 7 days off

Location: Cardiff (CF14) / Cheltenham - with occasional national and international travel.

Pay: £150 per day = £1,050 per week

Free accommodation whilst on shift.

Nest Pension Scheme

Holidays: 5.6 weeks holiday pro rata

An Automatic Driving Licence and a valid Passport are required for this role

  • Personal Care: Bathing, Dressing, Grooming, Toileting.
  • Health Care: Administrating medicine, using medical equipment.
  • Light academic assistance: Retrieving books from the library, attending meetings and research trips.
  • Daily Living
  • Accompanying medical appointments
  • Social Support
  • Housekeeping / Domestic duties

Care experience is not required as full training in our client's particular requirements will be provided.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Valid Passport (Essential)
  • Clean Automatic driving licence (Essential)
  • Confident driver (Essential)
  • Previous PA / Care experience (Desirable)
  • Dependable
  • Physical fitness, patience, and a caring nature
  • Strong communication and listening skills
  • Mature and responsible attitude
  • Fluent in English
  • Clean and tidy appearance
