Trainee Claims Handler

The Role:

We have an exciting opportunity to offer to someone coming from a proven Customer Service background whether it be retail, hospitality or any other role where you deal with customers and are looking for your next career step.

Working with the Claims Department to provide effective administration support for Balens Ltd, the role will enable development and training to Claims Handler level. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills, be a great team player and have excellent attention to detail alongside demonstrating a passion in delivering the very best customer service.

Responsibilities:

  • Update calls and information on Balens Administration System (BAS) as directed by Claims Handler.
  • Liaise with insurers as directed by Claims Handler.
  • Setting up new claims on the system
  • Investigating claims and requesting relevant documentation.
  • Understanding policy wordings and how a policy will respond to a claim.
  • Chase diary entries for documentation that is outstanding.
  • Make sure that emails in the claims inbox have been allocated to the correct handler.
  • Chase insurers for updates on payments and reserves.
  • Scanning and photocopying as directed.
  • Liaise with DAS panel solicitors on current cases for updates.
  • Prepare basic claims reports in BAS and Excel.
  • Liaise with colleagues regarding updates and data collection.
  • Transfer insurers' claims data to BAS.
  • Answer telephone and assist clients with enquiries.

Experience:

  • Customer Service Experience
  • General Business Office Skills and Experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Outlook
