Clerks of Work Mechanical & Electrical

Are you a skilled Mechanical or Electrical Clerk of Works looking for an exciting opportunity to showcase your expertise? Our client, a prestigious organisation in the police industry, is seeking a talented individual like you to join their team in Wakefield. This is a temporary role with a contract length of 24 months.

As the Clerk of Works, you will play a crucial role in providing technical expertise for mechanical and electrical building services. Your responsibilities will include conducting on-site validations, inspections, audits, and contractor liaison to ensure legislatively compliant and value for money services.

PLEASE NOTE DUE TO POLICE VETTING CRITERIA, YOU MUST HAVE RESIDED WITHIN THE UK CONTINUOUSLY FOR AT LEAST 5 YEARS TO APPLY FOR THIS POSITION.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead by example and uphold the Police Code of Ethics, reinforcing the force values through your actions and interactions.
  • Supervise and ensure safe, compliant, and efficient working practises for a range of projects, maintenance, and minor works.
  • Support the delivery of mechanical and electrical engineering projects, as well as planned and reactive maintenance works.
  • Monitor and maintain the performance of mechanical and electrical systems, including Building Management Systems, to ensure safety, reliability, and compliance.
  • Work with agreed specifications, tender packages, and contract documentation to maintain consistent corporate standards.
  • Provide thorough monitoring of mechanical and electrical works, ensuring they are delivered within agreed costs and deadlines.
  • Carry out building condition and dilapidation surveys to aid asset management and project appraisal.
  • Effectively prioritise workload and escalate issues and risks when necessary.

Requirements:

  • Relevant experience and qualifications as a building services engineer.
  • Clear working knowledge of current industry regulations, standards, and best practises.
  • Strong communication skills to provide oral and written technical advice to clients, consultants, and contractors.
  • Ability to work well within a team and independently, with excellent prioritisation skills.
  • Experience managing and coordinating mechanical and electrical contractors for construction projects and maintenance works.
  • Familiarity with specifications, tender scopes, pricing documents, and technical design drawings.
