Teaching Assistant

Salary: £84-95 per day.
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join our vibrant Special School in Derby from September 2024. This full-time position is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with Special Educational Needs.
Job Role and Responsibilities:
- Support Learning: Assist in the educational and social development of pupils under the direction and guidance of the class teacher and SEND coordinator.
- Individualised Attention: Work with individual children and small groups to ensure they reach their full potential, providing tailored support to meet their specific needs.
- Classroom Assistance: Help prepare and maintain a purposeful, orderly, and supportive environment for learning.
- Behaviour Management: Support the management of pupil behaviour, encouraging and promoting positive behaviours.
- Communication: Liaise with parents, teachers, and other professionals to ensure effective communication and a consistent approach to each child's development.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and any issues that arise, contributing to the development and implementation of individualised education plans (IEPs).
Skills and Experience Required:
- Experience: Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant with children with SEND is essential.
- Knowledge: A good understanding of various special educational needs and strategies to support them.
- Qualifications: Relevant qualifications in education or child care are advantageous but not essential if the candidate has substantial experience.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact positively with children, parents, and staff.
- Patience and Empathy: A caring and patient demeanour, with the ability to build positive relationships with children.
- Team Player: Ability to work effectively as part of a team, showing flexibility and a willingness to adapt.
- Organisational Skills: Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
