We are currently seeking a Collections Care Manager to join our Collections Department on a part-time basis in one of the most iconic buildings in the world, St Paul's Cathedral.

This remarkable group of objects, archive material, books and manuscripts can provide multiple ways in to understanding the life and work of the cathedral.

In order for the potential of The Collections to be realised, the department puts excellence in documentation and conservation at the heart of its activities. This ensures, through preventive and remedial conservation measures, the long-term preservation of this important historical record, and increases its accessibility.

As part of the team, you will work across the object, archive and library collections and be responsible for duties including managing day-to-day preventive measures, overseeing object moves, cleaning and IPM, salvage planning and conservation related risk management, identifying and working with specialists on remedial conservation of individual objects and preparing objects for loan and display and managing conservation documentation.

The successful applicant will:

  • be a team player with great advocacy and interpersonal skills;
  • be a proven manager of collections care in an historic environment.
  • have experience of working within a museum or cultural heritage organisation; and
  • have excellent conservation skills and attention to detail and demonstrable planning, resourcing and prioritisation skills.

The successful applicant will also be expected to share in St Paul's Cathedral's commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.

In return you'll find we are a welcoming place to work and we each take responsibility for our part in the Cathedral's work, looking after St Paul's for the next generation.

  • Our holiday allowance is 25 days plus bank holidays (FTE)
  • Our pension scheme allows for up to 7.5% employer contribution
  • And as you might expect we have life assurance of four times basic salary and an employee assistance programme

We are committed to creating and sustaining a diverse and inclusive workforce that represents our context and wider community. We are aware that those of United Kingdom Minority Ethnic / Global Majority Heritage, women, and disabled people are currently under-represented in our workforce, and we particularly encourage applications from those with the relevant skills and experience that will increase our representation.
