We are looking for an Environmental Sustainability (ES) Manager to lead an Estates and Facilities Management (EFM) team within the Public Sector. The Environmental Sustainability Manager will be responsible for assessing and improving our environmental impact, ensuring compliance with regulations, and driving sustainable practices throughout the organisation.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Develop and execute strategies to improve sustainability and address environmental concerns.
  • Prepare proposals, budgets, and reports on sustainability for board and stakeholder review.
  • Develop and implement organisational policies and practices to enhance sustainability across the force.
  • Research environmental sustainability issues, evaluate alternatives, and propose actions for management consideration.
  • Create methodologies to assess the success of sustainability initiatives.
  • Develop policies and procedures to monitor the effectiveness of sustainability programmes.
  • Implement an ES programme to ensure compliance with environmental or governmental regulations.
  • Produce sustainability reports, presentations, and employee guidance to facilitate change and compliance.
  • Conduct risk assessments related to sustainability and the environment.
  • Identify funding opportunities and write proposals or grant applications for environmental initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prioritise ES initiatives.
  • Provide guidance to departments to integrate ES considerations into business decisions.
  • Monitor and report on ES performance to management and external stakeholders.
  • Stay informed on ES trends and best practices to keep the organisation at the forefront of industry developments.
  • Manage relationships with external ES stakeholders, including regulatory bodies.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in environmental sustainability management.
  • Strong strategic planning and execution skills.
  • Excellent research and analytical abilities.
  • Proficient in developing and implementing policies and programmes.
  • Ability to produce detailed reports and presentations.
  • Experience in conducting risk assessments and securing funding for initiatives.
  • Strong collaboration and leadership skills.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of ES trends and regulations.
