Nursery Room Leader

Our client is seeking an enthusiastic, friendly and passionate Room Leader to work with their rising 2-year-old class, working alongside our existing highly experienced, passionate and friendly Room Leader.

Role Type: Full-time (Monday to Friday, 8:45am - 6:00pm)

Set Holidays: 9 workdays at Christmas, 4 work days at Easter, 10 work days at the end of August and all bank holidays

Start Date: ASAP

Salary: up to £40,000.00 (dependent on qualification and previous experience)

Responsibilities, alongside the existing Room Leader, include:

  • Day-to-day responsibility of the class
  • To plan rich, creative, engaging and stimulating activities that meet the age and stage of development of the children, and encourage them to reach their full potential.
  • To plan and prepare activities and evaluate their planning and practice through use of the EYFS curriculum.
  • To supervise and lead activities, planning for key children from observations, next steps, magic moments and parental input.
  • To complete observations and online learning journals to a high standard, ensuring that they are up to date
  • To complete Two Year Progress Checks to a high standard, including meeting with parents, as requested, to discuss the checks.
  • To be able to identify children who may need extra support or an extension of their learning.
  • Be familiar with the Code of Practice on the identification and assessment of special educational needs.
  • Listen to children carefully in order to respond constructively and be able to accurately plan for their next steps.
  • Select and make good use of ICT and other learning resources which enable learning objectives to be met. • Provide opportunities to develop children's wider understanding by relating their learning to real life (experiences they may have had both at home and at school).
  • Ability to lead a team of staff in a professional and supportive manner.
  • Be articulate and confident in working with parents and professionals.
  • Attend workshops for professional development. Attend monthly staff meetings, parents evening and Nursery events.
  • To be involved in any other duties, which may from time to time be required within the general level of responsibility of the post.
  • To care for all the required pastoral needs of the children.
  • To follow strict guidance on children's dietary needs. • Provide a safe, caring and nurturing environment for all children
  • Always complying with company policies and procedures

  • Is articulate with a good command of English Essential Requirements for the Role Candidates must:
  • Have Right to Work status in the UK.
  • Have a registered DBS certificate on the update service or have adequate documents to make an application.
  • Have proof of an accredited qualification (at least NVQ3)
  • Have experience of working within Early Years • Have a good understanding of, and be able to comply with the Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework (EYFS)
  • Have observation, planning and assessment skills that ensure the quality of learning is sustained
  • Have an awareness and growing understanding of Ofsted requirements - particularly Safeguarding and Health and Safety
  • Be enthusiastic and confident in their ability to engage children and extend their learning through play, enabling their emotional, social and educational development
  • Be committed to the safeguarding of children
  • Be committed to equality, diversity and inclusivity.
