Machinist – CNC and Manual

Location: Woking Shifts: Days

Contract – Initially 4-months

We are seeking a skilled Machinist to join our Vehicle Development team on an ongoing contract basis, initially 4-months. Our client is a globally renowned automotive leader, known for its cutting-edge technology and high-performance vehicles. You will play a critical role in supporting the development of prototype vehicles, components, and rigs, working with some of the most advanced materials in the industry.

Key Responsibilities of the Machinist:

  • Execute high-standard machining tasks as requested by the Vehicle Development workshop teams.
  • Collaborate closely with the Vehicle Development build team to construct high-quality, reliable prototype vehicles, bucks, and rigs to facilitate the testing and development of new vehicle technologies.
  • Effectively manage and coordinate multiple machining work requests, prioritising tasks to meet tight deadlines.
  • Maintain and care for all machining plant equipment, ensuring they are in optimal working condition.
  • Be flexible and open to working additional hours, including weekends, when required to meet work request deadlines and project schedules.
  • Adhere to company Health and Safety policies at all times, ensuring a safe working environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required for the Machinist:

  • Extensive experience in machining one-off and small-batch parts using both CNC and manual milling and lathe machines.
  • Preferred knowledge of motor vehicle architecture and operation.
  • Experience working with up-to-date metallic and composite materials, ideally within the high-performance automotive or aerospace industries.
  • Competency in computer literacy, including the ability to use CATIA CAD for viewing engineering drawings.
  • Ability to interpret 2D engineering specifications and technical drawings.
  • Skilled in self-checking and inspecting completed machined parts for accuracy and quality.
  • Engineering-based Apprenticeship or equivalent training, providing strong competency in general engineering workshop skills.
