We are seeking a qualified SENCO, preferably with a humanities background, to join a co-educational alternative provision in Hillingdon, catering to ages 11-16. The successful candidate will oversee the strategic development of SEN policy and the school's provision. This role requires an immediate start and offers a pathway from temporary to permanent employment.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Develop and implement strategic SEN policies and practices within the school.
  • Train and manage a team of Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to ensure effective support for students with special educational needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external agencies to create holistic educational plans tailored to individual student needs.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of SEN provision and interventions.
  • Provide direct support and instruction to students, demonstrating and sharing good classroom practices.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to stay updated with the latest educational strategies and interventions for SEN.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Must hold a recognised full teaching qualification, such as QTS.
  • Hold a recognised SENCO qualification.
  • Proven experience in managing SEN provision within a school setting.
  • Strong understanding and experience of working with children with special needs.
  • Excellent management, communication, time management, and organisational skills.
  • Energetic, enthusiastic, and possesses a ‘can do' attitude.
  • Friendly and professional demeanour.
  • Demonstrated ability to enable learners to fulfil their potential, with a commitment to achieving the highest standards for all learners.
