Customer Service Officer

  • Contract: 3-months

  • Pay Rate: £13.31 per hour (PAYE)

Manchester City Council is seeking a dedicated Customer Service Officer on an initial 3-month contract. The role involves supporting Manchester residents with queries regarding the General Election, handling general switchboard duties, and providing information on the cost of living and household support funds.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for Manchester residents and customers accessing the Customer Service team.
  • Assess customer needs and resolve enquiries at the first point of contact where possible.
  • Advise customers and visitors on the most appropriate course of action, liaising with other service areas and agencies, and arranging assistance as required.
  • Process customer requests and assist with completing relevant forms/applications in line with service processes and procedures.
  • Update and extract information from IT systems as required, ensuring adherence to agreed policies and procedures.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a customer service role.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to quickly assess and resolve customer enquiries.
  • Proficient in using IT systems and a variety of software packages.
