Information Governance & Assurance Lead

Salt Recruitment is looking for an Information Governance & Assurance Lead for a public sector client in the transport industry who will be responsible for leading governance and assurance activities, ensuring that data standards and policies are being adhered to. This role supports the development of a holistic approach to manage data an an asset inside ICT.

Rate: £550 - £600 Inside IR35

Start date: Early-mid June

Duration: Initial 6 months with likely extension

Location: Birmingham or London (2x days per week onsite)

To be considered for this position you must come from a construction or public sector background.

Accountablities

  • Define, implement, and monitor a governance framework to guide the use of data.
  • Develop IT information governance & assurance approach, focusing on treating data as an asset and maintaining wider organisational compliance.
  • Assure continuation of standard approach for the technical assessment of information systems against information assurance polices and business objectives.
  • Develop information assurance policy, standards and guidelines.
  • Provide advice and guidance to ensure adoption of and adherence to information assurance architectures, strategies, policies, standards and guidelines
  • Contribute to the development of organisational strategies that address the evolving business risk and information control requirements.
  • Identify typical data risk indicators and plan for prevention measures, leveraging available data.
  • Recognise decisions that are beyond their scope and responsibility level and escalate those decisions accordingly.
  • Actively promote and embed Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work, and support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI.

Required skills

  • Information management. Ability to plan, implement and control the full life cycle management of digitally organised information and records.
  • Information security. Ability to define, operate and maintain a framework of security controls. Can also identify and communicate security risks that arise from technical solution architectures.
  • Information assurance. Ability to review and perform risk assessment and treatment plans against managing risks related to the use, storage and transmission of data and information systems.
  • Governance. Ability to define and operate a framework for making decisions, managing stakeholder relationships, and identifying legitimate authority for IT.
  • Data management. Ability to develop, implement and asses the integrity of plans, policies, and practices that control, protect and optimise the value of data assets. Can also provide advice on the transformation of data from one format to another.

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of various information assurance polices and standards, with a focus on industry trends.
  • Knowledge of data storage tools in used in projects.
  • Knowledge of digital information technology, trends, and the opportunities they present.
