Job Title: Corporate Compliance Assurance Manager
Function: Legal, part of the Governance and Legal Affairs Directorate, supporting business development and management.
Job Purpose: Support the Legal and Compliance functions in delivering a proactive and commercially relevant compliance program across business units, with a focus on driving and setting up new compliance regimes rather than maintaining existing ones.
Location: Based in Bristol with regular UK travel and occasional travel within Europe a few times a year. (Hybrid Working)

Role Summary:
This role fills a critical gap as a Corporate Compliance Manager within the legal team, focusing on corporate compliance and key risk areas, including fraud, bribery, data protection, export controls, sanctions, and modern slavery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement compliance frameworks, focusing on areas such as export controls, GDPR, anti-bribery, competition law, and modern slavery.
- Act as the Legal & Compliance representative in monthly Quality meetings and collaborate closely with technical teams to drive compliance across projects.
- Write and present board papers on compliance topics, particularly fraud and bribery, and provide regulatory advice as needed.
- Maintain and enhance compliance procedures, deliver training, and manage emerging compliance issues.
- Conduct compliance audits, self-assessments, and impact assessments (e.g., DPIA/ECIAs) with minimal corrective actions.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and support the business in understanding and meeting compliance obligations.
- Monitor and report on compliance through reporting, health checks, and stakeholder engagement.
- Influence stakeholders to ensure adherence to relevant laws and regulatory frameworks, promoting a culture of compliance within the organisation.
- Support the company's environmental and ethical commitments by ensuring compliance aligns with broader corporate values and objectives.
Experience and Skills Required:
- Proven experience in legal and regulatory compliance frameworks, including but not limited to export controls, data protection, sanctions, and competition law.
- Background in setting up and managing compliance functions, ideally within regulated industries such as construction, energy, or financial services.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, capable of working in demanding environments with multiple priorities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, with a proactive approach to driving compliance initiatives.
- Comfortable with legal concepts and able to provide guidance on regulatory matters.
- Excellent organisational, adaptability, and communication skills with strong commercial awareness.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
