Audit Supervisor

This role includes:

  • Involvement in planning, supervising, and carrying out full end-to-end audits
  • Responsibility for achieving agreed budgets and meeting deadlines
  • Setting objectives for more junior staff and supervise on site, reviewing their work and coaching on the job where necessary.

Key responsibilities:

  • Responsible for auditing large companies including planning, execution and completion.
  • Delivery of a complete audit file for manager review.
  • Supervision of the audit team on-site, which includes reviewing the work of juniors and assisting junior team members with technical accounting and audit questions.
  • Delivery of work carried out under the primary accounting frameworks (UK GAAP, FRS 101, FRS 102 and IFRS).
  • Responsibility for identifying and delivering complex areas of audits, with the assistance of the senior manager/director.
  • Drafting recommendations to management for improvements to internal controls following audit fieldwork completion.
  • Drafting of audit close meeting agenda and points for discussion.
  • Close liaison with clients and other stakeholders, often with direct contact at partner and director levels.
  • Motivation and encouragement of team.
  • Promoting the interests of the firm with all employed by the firm, clients, prospective clients and other third parties.
  • Generally, to provide a personal, professional, speedy, and efficient service to the firm's clients.
  • Assisting with internal training courses.
  • Any other special work as required e.g. company valuations, HMRC investigations & proposal pitches.
  • Working alongside current office management to assist and supervise junior team members in their wider career development.

Practice Development:

  • Attending client gatherings or client seminars on an ad hoc basis.
  • Identifying business development opportunities with clients and progressing these in liaison with partner/director.
  • Internal networking to get to know your team and the wider firm including specialist services. Administration
  • Using initiative to come up with innovative ideas to improve systems currently in practice with regards to client or staff matters.

Audit Skills and expertise:

  • Qualified to ACA/ACCA or internationally recognised chartered accounting qualification
  • Experience leading audit teams including group audits
  • Experience of substantive and controls based audit testing
  • Trained in a top 20 firm
  • Technically competent, including solid experience and understanding of UK GAAP and auditing standards
  • Practical IFRS experience is desirable but not essential
  • High level of personal motivation and initiative
  • Excellent communicator - able to get on with clients and motivate teams
  • Strong organisational skills - ability to multi-task and prioritise work
  • Personable and confident - clients and team members able to relate with you
  • Ability to meet deadlines
