Finance Manager

Posted by Red 5 People Ltd.

Do you have a finance background and like the idea of joining a charity away from traditional finance / accounting. This charity needs your finance background to help them dissect and oversee contract performance on a project aimed at saving water across the UK.

This project supports businesses and residential homes to save water through habitual change, along with plumbing solutions, with a team on the ground doing visits and making an impact. They have contracts with all the main water companies in the south of England, and such, this requires lots of number crunching, compliance, and performance analysis. They tend to use Salesforce, Power BI and Excel as their software of choice.

You will work as a management team of 3. With yourself overseeing the contract numbers, a manager overseeing the residential team, and another for the business team (who each in turn manage staff on the ground). You won't have any direct reports for now. With your key functions being to:

  • Act as a key liaison between operational delivery and financial management. So, looking at the numbers, and working with your management team to spot problem areas on the contract and look at solutions
  • Liaising closely with the water companies to talk through the numbers, produce reports and discuss performance of the contract to ensure expectations are being met.

A summary of key duties is below to give you an idea:

  • Ensure all operations comply with contractual specifications and internal procedures.
  • Act as a key liaison between operational delivery and financial management.
  • Maintain accurate and timely reporting of program performance and risks.
  • Ensure staff are fully trained and aware of health, safety, and wellbeing policies.
  • Collaborate with Operational Managers to ensure understanding of roles and contract requirements.
  • Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance and prepare summary reports.
  • Lead briefings to ensure financial benefits in program delivery.
  • Identify and escalate contractual risks and discuss new contracts with development teams.

To apply, you must have a strong finance background at a senior level, ideally with experience of producing complex reports. The ideal candidate will have Power Bi exp, but this is not essential (and they can provide training around this).

Please note this role is London based, with the charity HQ being in London Waterloo. Its 2 – 3 days at home, and 2 – 3 days in the office.
