Cluster IT Technician Apprentice

The Emmaus Catholic Academy Trust (Diocese of Salford) is dedicated to providing an outstanding Catholic Education to our children and pupils.

Overview:
We are seeking to expand our central team and appoint a Cluster IT Technician Apprentice to support our Trust schools with the provision of effective and efficient IT support services, who is happy to be deployed across the schools within our CAT.

Salary: £22,366 per annum.

Main purpose of the job:
The Cluster IT Apprentice will work collaboratively with the school and central team to ensure that IT services meet the needs of the school.

Resolving and escalating issues reported to the IT support service desk in a timely manner to ensure minimum disruption to the teaching and learning of our children, and the day-to-day school operations and business.

The Apprentice will also support the implementation of the Emmaus CAT IT Strategy, along with the Head of IT, to ensure IT services are met.

Key responsibilities:
The following list is not exhaustive, but a representation of the range of duties included in the role.

  • Provide 1st line support to resolve issues in school, including desktop administration for staff and pupils, such as security and user settings for all devices.
  • Provide 1st line support to resolve network, server and telephony issues, with effective collaboration with third parties, where necessary to resolve.
  • Management of the school service desk, its processes and open tickets, with appropriate escalations to the Central Team and third parties to resolve any issues in a timely manner according to contracts and SLA's.
  • Effective monitoring of systems to identify issues and troubleshooting to drive resolution and recording of any configuration changes.
  • Act as the IT ambassador for the school and provide appropriate input to any Emmaus CAT strategic IT projects such as Workstream Lead, and act as the on-site liaison with any third parties to support the implementation of said works.
  • Providing support and assurance to the monitoring of all appropriate back-up solutions for the school.
  • Support central IT Team in the management of the school risk register and working collaboratively to ensure all risks are identified and mitigations are in place, as well as support in the creation and maintenance of Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plans.
  • Provide support, and where necessary, training to colleagues in school to improve self service capability and reduce any downtime of any kind, in school.

What we are looking for:
Essential experience:

  • Experience of working with various operating systems, including Windows 10 & 11, MacOS, Chrome OS
  • Demonstratable background of using Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Outlook, OneDrive)
  • Demonstratable understanding and experience of troubleshooting IT issues
  • An awareness of the DfE Digital and Technology Standards, and KCSiE Statutory Guidance

Desired skills and aptitudes:

  • The ability to be adaptable and work flexibly across the CAT
  • The ability to demonstrate personal and professional integrity, including modelling values and vision
  • Confidential and discreet in dealing with sensitive matters and collaborative working with executive leaders
  • High levels of integrity and probity, as well as a commitment to highest levels of effort, endeavour and focus on standards

Essential:
Having a full driving licence and your own vehicle is required - as the role involves travelling.

Entry requirements:

  • 3 GCSE's (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)
  • Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship is in a similar subject

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.
