Senior Authorised Person (SAP) 33kV-400kV

My client is seeking someone with an in-depth knowledge of HV switching operations, electrical safety regulations, and relevant industry standards whilst being able to provide strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work under pressure in critical situations. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively liaise with various stakeholders are a must, along with a valid full UK driving license for travel between sites as required

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Authority: Act as the Senior Authorised Person (SAP) responsible for the safe operation, isolation, and restoration of electrical networks up to 132kV.
  • Switching Operations: Plan, coordinate, and execute switching operations, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and regulations.
  • Safety Management: Oversee and enforce strict safety standards during highvoltage operations, including issuing safety documents such as Permits to Work, Sanction for Test, and Limitation of Access.
  • Fault Response: Lead the response to faults and emergencies, ensuring swift restoration of power and minimizing downtime.
  • Commissioning: Supervise the commissioning and energization of new equipment and installations up to 132kV, ensuring adherence to technical and safety standards.
  • Training & Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff and less experienced engineers, ensuring proper training and development.
  • Compliance & Documentation: Ensure all activities comply with relevant legislation, regulations, and company policies. Maintain accurate records of all switching operations, faults, and safety documents.
  • Risk Assessment: Conduct and review risk assessments for high-voltage operations, implementing measures to mitigate potential hazards.
  • Liaison & Communication: Collaborate with project teams, contractors, and other stakeholders to coordinate high-voltage activities and ensure alignment with project timelines.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement improvements to operational processes, safety procedures, and equipment performance.

Qualifications:

  • Certifications: Recognized qualifications and certifications as a Senior Authorised Person (SAP) up to 132kV.

Experience:

Extensive experience in high-voltage electrical systems, particularly in an SAP role, with a strong understanding of electrical networks and infrastructure.
