Pricing Manager - Motor & Home Insurance

£70,000 - £90,000 + Bonus + Benefits

Locations: South East or North West (Flexible Hybrid)

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Pricing Manager to join this rapidly growing pricing department, covering a range of insurance lines. In this role, you will be responsible for the pricing of multiple motor and home products, leveraging innovative techniques and data science to ensure competitive and accurate pricing strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pricing Process Management:

  • Maintain and enhance the pricing process to meet evolving business needs.

  • Develop advanced behavioural models using traditional and data science techniques.

  • Improve the sophistication and optimisation of our direct brand pricing strategies.

  • Support the delivery of pricing and underwriting business plans across Motor & Home portfolios.

  • Data Science and Innovation:

  • Advance the adoption of data science and statistical techniques across pricing and underwriting.

  • Research and integrate new and existing data sources, identifying trends and creating innovative data features.

  • Champion the automation of reporting, data pipelines, and quality assurance processes.

  • Team Leadership:

  • Manage, coach, and mentor team members, fostering a culture of development and excellence.

  • Collaborate with peers in pricing, underwriting, and data science to drive forward business objectives.

  • Communication and Reporting:

  • Clearly communicate results and proposed actions to key decision-makers across the business.

  • Develop and implement automated reporting structures to monitor pricing performance.

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Experience managing general insurance products and pricing teams, with a deep understanding of current trends and issues in motor or home pricing.
  • Proficiency in predictive modelling techniques, such as Logistic Regression, GBMs, Elastic Net GLMs, GAMs, Decision Trees, Random Forests, Neural Nets, and Clustering.
  • Expertise in statistical and data science programming languages (e.g. R, Python, PySpark, SAS, SQL).
  • A quantitative degree (Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Actuarial Science).
  • Experience with Radar is ideal but also Emblem or Earnix.
  • Strong communication and people management skills.
