Comms and Engagement Lead 3 Month FTC, Part Time (14 Hours Per Week) £500 Per Day London Office Based

We are currently recruiting for an Comms and Engagement Lead to join a County Council based out of London. As Comms and Engagement Lead you will support the vision of their Change Management workstream for their new Council wide Change Transformation Programme, ensuring they keep a consistent and positive perspective in promoting the upcoming Council changes.

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • To lead on the development and execution of communications activity and change campaigns and contribute to the Change Management Plan.
  • To attend meetings such as departmental DMTs to ensure awareness of key events, issues, and messages in those departments and to develop proactive campaigns to showcase that work for use across multiple internal-facing and external-facing platforms.
  • To deliver a balanced programme of continual communications and campaigns-related activity, delivering a balance of proactive coverage and stories in support of the Borough Plan, council strategic priorities, and the internal design principles.
  • To provide advice and guidance at a high level, including to relevant Strategic Director(s) and senior staff as well as elected Members (including the Leader and Cabinet) on both proactive and reactive communications and campaigns issues.
  • Under supervision, to be accountable for the planning, articulation, delivery, monitoring and reporting of communications and campaigns services to the highest professional standards.
  • Under supervision, to help drive change and transformation by developing and delivering innovative solutions in communications and campaigns and evaluation of coverage and messaging.
  • Under supervision, assist in the drafting of media and other briefings as directed, ensuring the most positive balance of coverage possible, but providing clear advice and handling to mitigate reputational threats or reluctance to change.

Skills and experience required:

  • Substantial experience of working with partners, residents, citizens, and stakeholders
  • Understanding of the context within which local government is operating, locally, regionally, and nationally.
  • A relevant degree professional qualification or relevant experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, with high level of written, oral, presentation and IT user skills Excellent persuasive and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to develop, influence and maintain good working relationships with a wide range of customers, stakeholders, and partners.
  • Innovative approach to problem solving and achieving value for money.
