Finance Business Manager

My client is a growing international law firm specializing in litigation and dispute resolution, particularly in the insurance, reinsurance, and liability areas. They have offices spanning the globe and over 1000 employees, with headquarters in the City of London and several other offices in the UK.

They are now looking for a Finance Business Manager to join their London office.

Responsibilities

  • Business partner to Senior Leadership and the Business Team Leads across the UK Commercial and Healthcare Divisions, providing financial guidance and insights to maximize profitability. It is essential to build credibility as a trusted advisor and that requires strong communication skills. To become the go to Finance person for the Commercial and Healthcare Divisions.
  • Responsible for leading Annual Planning Process and Forecasting cycles for the UK Teams and Clients. Liaise with Global Financial Reporting Team on the Operating Expense budget process and with HR for headcount planning.
  • Responsible for production and analysis of key commercial reporting. Insights on monthly performance including working capital analysis. This includes preparation of Finance Board.
  • Reports, client level profitability analysis, case matter level analysis and headcount reports.
  • Business partner with the UK Divisional leads for BD and HR for strategic and commercial decision making, including resourcing and service delivery.
  • Working across finance groups on all aspects of commercial insights.
  • Working with pricing team to ensure fair market returns for services provided.
  • Working with business on businesses cases for proposed laterals or Mergers.
  • Motivate, mentor and provide leadership to the finance team, setting and reviewing performance objectives on a regular basis.
  • Monitor the workflow of the finance team and identify areas where efficiencies of the functions can be improved.
  • Be the first point of contact to troubleshoot and resolve Finance system user issues where applicable.
  • Prepare profitability analysis of clients and work with the Business Development Manager and Partners to develop action plans to improve profitability.

Candidate Profile

  • Professional qualification in Commerce or Finance (ACA/CIMA preferred). Equivalent relevant qualifications and candidates with less than five years will be considered providing they can demonstrate the required competencies to carry out the role effectively.
  • A background within Professional Services (legal sector) would be preferable.
  • Strong MS Office skills.
  • International experience with a large multi group practice is desirable but not essential.
