Software Engineer - Elixir/Erlang

We're thrilled to be helping one of the UK's most remarkable Nature-Tech startups to find 2 Software Engineers to join their growing product development team. This is a fully remote opportunity (must be UK based) where you will be using your functional programming expertise to help further a hugely successful B2B SaaS app looking to change humanity's relationship with the natural environment.

What skills you'll be needing

  • You will be writing code in Elixir for this role. Prior experience with Elixir, Erlang or other functional programming languages.
  • A genuine interest/passion for preserving nature/environment.

Elsewhere, experience in some of the following:

  • BEAM/OTP.
  • Phoenix LiveView.
  • Typescript.
  • PostgreSQL.
  • Ability to write well-structured semantic and accessible HTML/CSS.
  • Geospatial data analysis.
  • API design.
  • Devops (AWS).
  • Docker.
  • Fly.io

What you'll be doing

You will be helping to build software that helps people to enhance biodiversity and reduce carbon emissions whilst making sustainable returns. Core duties will cover delivering good, clean and well-tested code to provide new rich, accessible user-facing features, keeping the application efficient, resilient and secure. You will be able to take part in meetings with customers and key stakeholders to hear their ideas and any issues. They will expect you to design and problem solve at system level and make software conform to principles of security, privacy, observability and maintainability. You'll be able to demonstrate a track record in rapidly becoming productive in new languages and server-side frameworks and have the self-motivation required to be a key part of a remote team (meeting up every 4-6 weeks).
