My client are seeking a dedicated Grounds Maintenance Worker to join their team in Sheffield. The role involves undertaking environmental and horticultural maintenance duties across the city to ensure our parks and green spaces are clean, safe, and attractive. This is a hands-on position that requires a full driving licence and the ability to work in all weathers.

Day to day of the role:

  • Carry out horticultural maintenance work under the direction of a supervisor, using machinery and hand tools.
  • Perform general gardening and environmental maintenance duties such as hedge cutting, pruning, grass cutting, litter picking, and rubbish removal.
  • Undertake improvement work, including preparation and painting of outdoor fixtures, erection of temporary fencing, and installation of dog bins.
  • Work in accordance with established Safe Systems of Work, Health and Safety Guidelines, Policies and Procedures.
  • Interact with clients as appropriate and ensure proper documentation is recorded in line with current legislation.
  • Drive and maintain council vehicles.
  • Participate in training and development to improve skills and competences.
  • Achieve performance targets in line with Service Level Agreements.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Understanding of the importance of customer care.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
  • Ability to work safely in accordance with policies.
  • Must be prepared to undertake appropriate training.
  • Full current driving licence is essential.

Work Related Circumstances:

  • Must be able to perform manual labour duties for up to 9 hours per day.
  • Prepared to work from different locations/depots across Sheffield.
  • Flexibility to work in all weather conditions.
