Boarding Houseparent

I am working with a dynamic team at a College in Oxford to seek Boarding Houseparents for an August or September 2024 start. They are a prestigious institution renowned for exceptional GCSE and A-level programs. With a commitment to academic excellence, this college prepares ambitious international students for admission to top universities.

The Role:

  • Care for boarders in their day-to-day life, in the way parents would, ensuring boarders are happy, safe, smartly dressed and ready for learning.
  • Support the provision of a stable, comfortable and secure Boarding environment in which students can develop self-reliance with managed support and guidance.
  • Establish parent trust in the safeguarding of their children and support the House Manager in the efficient running of the boarding residence.
  • Ensure the implementation and maintenance of National Minimum Standards within boarding house practices and processes.
  • Help provide a safe and homely environment for boarders in their house and safeguard their welfare.
  • Be actively involved in the care and welfare of the boarders in the house and nurture a feeling of respect and trust between boarders and staff working in the house.
  • Participate in the establishment of a boarding environment which is supportive and provides clear boundaries and expectations of behaviour both individually and to each other.
  • Act as Loco Parentis and lead by example by being an appropriate role model for all boarders in your House.
  • Guide boarders through their daily routine.
  • Be part of a team of Boarding staff, supporting each other to ensure excellence in the delivery of boarding provision as measured by the experience and wellbeing of all boarding students;
  • Communicate and initiate cover for boarding duties due to emergency circumstances.
  • This role is responsible to the House Manager in the immediate for all boarding matters within the boarding house, keeping them informed of any significant issues relating to the behaviour and well-being of boarders and boarding staff. If on duty with the Senior House Parent then within that duty you report to them.
