We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented

Temporary Assistant Accountant

to support a client of Trinity House Group during a crucial period of preparation for a system implementation. The successful candidate will assist with a range of ad-hoc tasks to help streamline our financial processes and ensure the team is well-prepared for the upcoming transition. This role will focus on managing large volumes of data, performing monthly reconciliations, and assisting with closing monthly ledgers.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong accounting skills who is looking for a short-term role in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Management: Accurately manage and process large volumes of financial data to support the finance team's ongoing work.
  • Monthly Reconciliations: Assist with monthly bank, ledger, and account reconciliations to ensure all financial records are up to date.
  • Ledger Closing: Support the month-end closing process, ensuring all ledgers are accurate and finalised within the required deadlines.
  • Ad-Hoc Financial Tasks: Provide general assistance to the finance team, completing various tasks needed to get the financials in order ahead of the system implementation.
  • Preparation for System Implementation: Ensure data integrity and assist in organising financial information in preparation for the upcoming system transition.
  • Financial Reporting: Help with preparing financial reports and documentation as needed.
  • Accounts Payable/Receivable: Support invoicing and payment processes, ensuring timely and accurate recording of transactions.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Experience: Proven experience in an accounting or finance role, ideally with exposure to handling large volumes of data and performing monthly reconciliations.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong skills in accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, Xero) and Excel, with the ability to efficiently manage and analyse data.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail, particularly when dealing with reconciliations and ledger closing.
  • Adaptability: Able to quickly adapt to changing priorities and take on ad-hoc tasks as needed to support the team.
  • Organisational Skills: Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, temporary role.
  • Communication: Clear verbal and written communication skills, with a collaborative approach to working with the finance team.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
  • Professional certifications or part-qualification (e.g., AAT, ACCA, CIMA) are a plus but not essential.
  • At least 5+ years of experience in a similar role.
