Tradewind are recruiting for an English Teacher!

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic, adaptable & resilient English Teacher to start in September 2024 at a secondary alternative provision in Salford for children with Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs (SEMH) that are within the Youth Justice system.

The Role

  • English Teacher for secondary aged pupils with SEMH needs at an alternative education provision
  • Monday to Friday 8:30am-3:30pm.
  • Start September 24, long term, expected to continue until at least July 25.
  • Excellent pay up to £230/day DOE.
  • Possibility of going onto a permanent contract for the right person.
  • Paid PAYE via Tradewind. We don't use umbrella payroll companies!
  • Equal pay to what the school would pay you on contract from the 13th week onwards.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Secondary Teacher of English.
  • You will need positive confident classroom management skills.
  • You must be able to differentiate lessons to the differing needs & levels of students.
  • Students will be of mixed ability, age and backgrounds.
  • You will need to work closely with your TAs to managing challenging behaviour while engaging, motivating & building strong relationships with your pupils.
  • You will also need to collaborate with school management, parents and outside professionals.

The School

  • Secondary Alternative Education Provision in the Salford area.
  • All students have an EHCP for Social, Emotional or Mental Health needs, SEMH.
  • Students are part of the Youth Justice system.
  • Class sizes of no more than 5 pupils including TA support.
  • Students academic attainment is at lower levels than expected for their age.
  • Experienced & supportive management.
  • Collaborative teamwork atmosphere.
  • Focus on safety, inclusion and holistic outcomes for students that prepare them for the next stage in their life.
  • Easily accessible by car, bus or train.

  • Hold QTS Status or QTLS.
  • Have an enhanced DBS certificate (or be happy to pay for a new one).
  • Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable).
  • Minimum of two professional references checks.
  • Provide a CV with full education & work.
  • Have the legal right to work in the UK.
