Job Title: Band 6 Paediatric Occupational Therapist

Location: Based in Leyland. You will cover the Chorley and South Ribble area, providing support across clinic settings, schools, and home visits as required.

Contract: Full-Time, Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM

Start Date: 01 November 2024 (this is flexible for the right candidate)

Role Summary:

Children's Therapy Services at Leyland House is seeking a dedicated Band 6 Paediatric Occupational Therapist to support children within the Chorley and South Ribble area. Working in both clinical and community-based settings, including clinics, schools, and home environments, you will provide assessments, interventions, and family support to help young clients thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Client Caseload: Support children aged 5 to teenage years, including:

  • Children with motor coordination difficulties (e.g., DCD, ASD, ADHD, and co-morbidities)

  • Children with rheumatology conditions affecting hand function

  • Young children (ages 3-4) with challenging behavior, focusing on environmental adaptations

  • Children with neurological and genetic conditions, including equipment assessment and reviews

  • Assessments: Conduct a variety of assessments and use departmental paperwork, including:

  • Standardized tests such as BOT, DASH, VMI, and clinical observations

  • Oxford 24/7 postural management assessments

  • Initial and risk assessment paperwork

  • Family Support and Consultations: Engage in triage conversations with families to assess appropriateness of involvement, using structured departmental proformas. Conduct telephone consultations to gather insights into the child's current situation, strengths, and areas of concern, as well as guiding families to relevant resources.

About you

  • We are looking for a compassionate, patient-centered Occupational Therapist with experience in pediatrics and the ability to work independently.
  • Strong assessment skills, familiarity with standard tools (BOT, DASH, VMI), and experience managing a varied caseload are essential.
