Financial Controller / Finance Manager £50,000 - £60000 (dependant on experience) + benefits + bonus West London Hybrid (4 DAYS IN THE OFFICE - NON-NEGOTIABLE)

Exciting opportunity to join and established clothing design, manufacturing and supply company who supply UK, European and US household name businesses and global international brand names. The business has grown substantially since its founding over 40 years ago and is a recognised leader in its field with a turnover now of over £24 million. The role is a hands-on role within a small finance function of 4 (including this role) consisting of a CFO, Head of Finance and Credit Controller. The role reports to the Head of Finance and will form an integral part of the financed team. The role is open to a suitably professionally qualified accountant (or finalist). (If a finalist study support will be provided.) The role is to support the Head of Finance to ensure the smooth and efficient day to day running of the finance department including managing the short-term cash resources of the organisation and providing accurate and comprehensive detailed financial information on a timely basis and ensure that the financial controls, processes and systems are effective and maintained.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Qualified (or possibly finalist) accountant (ACCA , ACMA, ACA, CPA) AND
  • Proven experience and able to produce / prepare full management and financial accounts in a multi-currency environment to tight deadlines. AND
  • Experience of cash flow reporting and presentation of findings to senior management and Board. AND
  • Hands on experience of double entry accounting to ensure accuracy of all ledgers e.g. a/c payable/ receivable. AND
  • Excellent Excel skills (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, Formulae, Sum if, etc.) This will be needed regarding the cash flow reporting model. AND
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work in a small finance team, likely to have been gained in a smaller company environment or SME. AND
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills to enable understanding by senior management.
  • Commercial acumen, analytical thinker, highly organised attention to detail, gravitas and credibility
  • Experience of preparation of VAT

THE ROLE
Reporting to the Head of Finance and working closely with the CFO and senior management, your role is a hands-on role and will include amongst many other responsibilities to manage the day to day running of the finance department, A/P & A/R, ensuring that transactions are accurately recorded within the accounting system. the following:

  • Hands on bookkeeping activities such as inputting purchase ledger invoices, employee expenses claim and nominal ledger journals
  • Produce / prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts in a multi-currency environment to tight deadlines as well as reports and KPIs.
  • Provide detailed analysis of monthly performance, cost analysis and explanations against budget.
  • Ensure month-end / year-end close procedures are completed to deadlines and liaison with external auditors and provide information to auditors for preparation of annual accounts.
  • Have responsibility for the accuracy of data within accounts payable and receivable, fixed assets and balance sheet preparation and ensure bank accounts are reconciled accurately. You will be assisted in posting to the accounts system on an ad hoc basis by another junior member.
  • Assist the Head of Finance in preparation and maintenance annual budgets and forecasts reporting on variance against actuals.
  • Personally prepare, maintain and present to senior management rolling cash flow forecasts.
  • Managing the short-term cash flow of the business, including processing of invoices and payments after approval in a timely manner
  • Attend meetings with senior management regarding management accounts and other financial matters.
  • Preparation and filing of UK VAT returns and provision of information to outsourced accountants in other European jurisdictions to submit local VAT.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register and depreciation schedules and ensure all balance sheet nominal accounts are accurately maintained and reconciled.
  • Produce in depth sales reports and profitability analysis in order to calculate the gross margins achieved on each and every customer.
