Part Time Group Accountant

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Part-Time Group Accountant for a confidential client in the construction industry. This role involves managing monthly consolidations, supporting the CFO in developing and producing effective Board reports, and maintaining long-range forecasts. The ideal candidate will be proactive, independent, and capable of simplifying and automating reporting processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monthly consolidation of financial results using an existing Excel-based model, with a focus on further streamlining the process.
  • Finalize the Group reporting pack and maintain the long-range forecast model, integrating P&L, balance sheet, and cashflow.
  • Prepare quarterly management information packs for banks and other financial stakeholders.
  • Establish and maintain effective control over intercompany balances and transactions.
  • Collaborate with Financial Controllers to improve and simplify the month-end cycle.
  • Facilitate the year-end audit, acting as a project manager between auditors and financial accountants.
  • Coordinate and review corporation tax work and prior years' assessments.
  • Oversee production of monthly accounts for the holding company.
  • Support the CFO with ad-hoc analysis, tax compliance reviews, and other tasks as needed.

Candidate Profile:

Essential:

  • Strong financial accounting experience, particularly in consolidations and fundamental accounting principles.
  • Experience in preparing material for stakeholder presentations, including forecasts and analyses.
  • Ability to work independently and manage deadlines effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to question and challenge processes.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of working with and influencing others across the business.

Desirable:

  • Experience supporting CFOs in fundraising or stakeholder presentations.
  • Background in a PLC environment or similar high-level financial roles.
  • Suitable for semi-retired professionals or those seeking a step down from a full-time position.
