Maidstone, with regular travel to East Kent

c.£50k + car allowance + benefits + bonus

Rare opportunity for an experienced quality professional from a metal fabrication background to join our rapidly expanding, market leading client, who have sites nationally as Quality Manager, overseeing a small team of 3 initially with potential to expand in the future.

This is a brand-new position, ready for someone to make their own, with room for growth in the long term once the team are ready for this.

The Quality Manager will work in close collaboration with the Engineering and Operations team to ensure their products are safe and reliable and exceed customer expectations.

Duties include:

  • Day to day management of a small team of 3, including training and development, performance management and resource planning
  • Responsible for product and process quality standards across two sites in Kent (East and Mid Kent)
  • Leading audits
  • Setting and improving key metrics to analyse performance against quality standards
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define quality requirements and specifications for new product development projects.
  • Leading the Quality Engineers, Inspectors, factory staff as well as the wider Design and NPD teams to ensure there is a focus on quality standards and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Lead structured problem-solving workshops using lean tools.
  • Continuous improvement of standards
  • Any other duties required.

The successful Quality Engineer role will:

  • Be an experienced Quality Engineer who has some management/supervisory experience
  • Be well qualified – ideally degree level, but definitely with relevant certifications within a Quality based discipline (Six Sigma as an example)
  • Have a relevant background in manufacturing, with some clear experience working with metal
  • Be happy to be ‘hands on' and present on the shop floor, developing relationships with the Production teams
  • Have analytical and data analysis skills
  • Have led audits to ISO standards previously
  • Have outstanding communication skills, able to develop effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders
  • Have clear leadership and organizational skills demonstrated through a track record and personal presentation
  • Be focused on working towards a common goal with a team orientated, logical and results focused mentality
  • Be tech savvy with top skills using systems and softwares
  • Be focused on continuous improvement, with LEAN skills training such as 5S
