Attendance Manager

As the Attendance Manager, you will provide strategic leadership and operational management for attendance and admissions functions within the school. This is a pivotal role within the school's business support team, helping to support a fantastic learning environment for the pupils within the school. You will also act as the deputy designated safeguarding lead within the school.

This Attendance Manager job in Rossendale is a full-time permanent role to start in September 2024. The role will include, but not be limited to:

  • Improve pupil attendance and punctuality, promoting and supporting high levels of attendance
  • Develop a strong culture of attendance across the school community.
  • Be responsible for the accurate and statutorily compliant maintenance of the attendance registers.
  • Oversee the day-to-day administration of pupils' attendance, providing reports and analysis of data as required.
  • Work with colleagues, pupils, parents and external agencies to identify and resolve issues that underpin low attendance.
  • Liaise with parents to query and authorise absences and follow up with appropriate actions.
  • Develop and maintain links with the community, families, feeder primary schools and local authorities.
  • Liaise closely with the Admissions and Exclusions Team to undertake admission processes and administration.
  • Liaise with pastoral leaders in the development and implementation of attendance initiatives, including competitions and rewards.
  • Deal with day-to-day queries from families.
  • Establish constructive relationships with parents/carers, exchanging information, facilitating their support for their child's attendance, access and learning and supporting home to school and community links.
  • Oversee and participate in the attendance team's strategic home visits to students who are absent.
  • Oversee and administer 'child missing in education' processes, aligned to trust and DfE guidance promptly and robustly.
  • Ensure that the attendance team have a strong understanding of current attendance legislation and legal requirements.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Experience of working in attendance administration
  • Experience of working within an educational setting
  • Confident in working with different computer systems, including MS Office, SIMS and other MIS.
  • Experience of coaching and training a team to deliver on set targets.
  • The ability to address sensitive matters in a caring and confidential manner.
  • A commitment to the wellbeing and safety of young people.
