Accounts Assistant

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join a thriving business based in Rayleigh Essex. (Own transport preferred due to location).
The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing daily banking activities, maintaining accurate financial records, and providing support for customer and supplier inquiries. This position demands effective collaboration with the Accounts Manager to ensure the seamless operation of the accounts department.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Conduct daily bank postings and keep the sales and purchase ledgers up to date.
- Address customer and supplier queries via email and phone.
- Manage petty cash postings and perform reconciliations.
- Handle ad hoc tasks such as fuel card analysis and mobile phone management.
- Sort and distribute incoming post and maintain systematic filing of records.
- Work closely with the Accounts Manager to facilitate smooth daily operations within the accounts department.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- A minimum of 2 years previous experience in a similar role.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and fundamental IT skills.
- A keen eye for identifying numerical discrepancies and correcting mis-posts.
- This position may suit a candidate looking to develop existing Accountancy skills as progression maybe offered.
Additional Notes:
- Flexibility is key, as all staff members may be required to assist with customer phone calls to support the customer service department during peak times.
