Position: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Shoreham
Hours: 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM (Monday - Friday)

A school in Shoreham is seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team, specialising in supporting children with social, emotional, and mental health needs. This is an exciting opportunity to help children overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities of an SEMH Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide tailored support to children with SEMH needs, both one-on-one and in small groups.
  • Assist the class teacher in managing behavior and creating a nurturing, safe learning environment.
  • Help students develop coping strategies to manage emotions and social interactions.
  • Work closely with the SENCO and other staff to monitor student progress and adjust support as needed.
  • Encourage positive emotional and social growth in students facing challenges.
  • Build strong relationships with students, providing guidance and encouragement to promote their well-being.

Requirements:

  • Experience as an SEMH Teaching Assistant in a school.
  • A passion for supporting children with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff and parents.
  • Patience, resilience, and a positive attitude towards helping children succeed.
