Job Purpose

Providing an innovative, high-quality and efficient catering service in compliance with relevant
Health & Safety and Food Hygiene requirements.

Main Duties and responsibilities.

  • Prepare, cook, and plan for creative, innovative, and nutritionally well-balanced meals, presented to
  • an exceptional standard.
  • Manage and undertake the daily operations of the kitchen to meet required standards.
  • Maintain the safety of kitchen equipment and appliances, reporting any faults to the School Business Manager (SBM).
  • Ensure excellent quality control measures are observed throughout all aspects of running the catering service.
  • Support with the purchasing of the required ingredients and equipment, managing the necessary inventory.
  • Ensure high standards of hygiene, health and safety and food safety requirements are implemented.
  • Assist when required with any proposed food technology activities with the pupils of the school.
  • Support the SBM with the management of the catering budget, actively sourcing and engaging appropriate external partners.
  • Working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Assess the catering service through appropriate measures, including feedback, to ensure a high-quality catering provision is being delivered.
  • Ensure cleaning of the kitchen is to a high standard.
  • Ensure high standards of hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times.
  • Lead on the putting away of deliveries, stock rotation and ensure stock room is kept clean and tidy at all times.
  • Ensure temperature checks and relevant records completed.
  • Complete cleaning schedule checklists.
  • Maintain a safe working environment at all times.
  • Encourage pupils to choose healthy balanced meal options.
  • Respond quickly and efficiently to queries and complaints.
  • Promote the safety and well-being of the pupils at all times and to ensure that any Child Protection/Family Protection concerns are communicated appropriately and swiftly to senior TCES staff so that all necessary measures may be taken to safeguard and support those concerned.
  • Maintain awareness of and commitment to the Health and Safety needs of the pupils and others they have working contact with.

Desired Expireince

  • Expirience cooking Caribbean and Asian food
  • School experience
  • working with SEMH / SEN pupils would be an advantage.
