Salary: £37,000 - £47,000

The Role:

As a Principal Ecologist, you will lead and contribute to various projects, applying your expertise in field surveys, assessments, and reporting while guiding clients through the planning and licencing processes. You'll manage projects efficiently, ensuring timely delivery, financial oversight, and clear communication of recommendations. The role demands excellent management skills, attention to detail, and strong written and verbal communication, with experience in supervising staff and coordinating with other professionals. You'll also play a key role in developing fee proposals and maintaining high-quality standards.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Extensive experience in ecological consultancy
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in ecology.
  • CIEEM Membership.
  • Ability to lead Phase 1 habitat/UKHab assessments and conduct protected species surveys.
  • FISC Level 4 certification or higher
  • BNG assessment experience
  • Protected species licence (ideally Level 2 bat licence)
  • Proven ability to produce written assessments (desk studies, technical reports, PEAs, EIAs).
