Land Buyer

Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting an award-winning Housebuilder in the South East on the hire of a Land Manager for their team in Beaconsfield. This is a permanent and full-time role.

Our client has been operating successfully since the 60's and has remained committed to developing high-specification, sustainable, architecturally innovative homes designed to complement the local environment and improve the quality of life for those who live there!

Reporting to the Land Director you will support the land team to ensure the flow of work for the 'southern' region (Surrey, Sussex, Hampshire and Kent). The role will be based from the Beaconsfield office with hot desking available from the Leatherhead office if/when required.

Key responsibilities:

  • Liaise where directed with land agents and land owners
  • Develop an understanding of what constitutes an acceptable site to the business
  • Carry out technical appraisal of sites
  • Carry out market research on sales values and specification
  • Provide information to update development programmes
  • Liaise with technical, build, commercial and sales departments when appropriate
  • Prepare site profitability statements, to include development programmes, sales market research & acquisition build budgets
  • Regularly monitor relevant Local Authority Planning Application registers for appropriate development opportunities and make contact with owners where necessary.
  • Regularly monitor relevant Local Authority Local Plan processes to identify possible development opportunities and make initial contact with landowners where appropriate.
  • Obtain service information & quotations
  • Assist in preparation of bids with other land team members where directed
  • Assist other land team members with the collation of exchange packs, including sourcing relevant content where necessary
  • Keep up to date with work requirements
  • Attend Company meetings as necessary
  • Comply with Company control regulation systems
  • Conduct yourself in a manner which will not jeopardise or adversely affect the Company's operations.

Skills and experience:

  • Proven experience in a similar role with a residential and/or commercial developer
  • Land, Planning, Law or similar qualification
  • MRTPI or MRICS qualification ideal
  • Knowledge of the development industry
  • Personable and able to build strong working relationships
  • Clear and concise communication skills
  • Strong negotiation skills

Salary / Benefits:

  • Attractive salary of £33,000 - £40,000pa
