My well established client based in Carlisle, are currently recruiting for a Buyer to join their team on a full time permanent basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for buying materials to the company's requirements, ensuring goods are delivered when required and purchased at the most competitive rates within the available budget.
One of the UK's leading manufacturing businesses who are market leaders in their field, the company employs over 120 employees with a turnover exceeding £100m.
Key responsibilities
- Monitor the MRP system information on a daily basis and take necessary actions based on the established inventory levels.
- Explore opportunities for profit sharing in new vendor contracts and execute them to secure enhancements in pricing and order processes.
- Issue and expedite purchase orders as required.
- Promptly escalate any issues that arise to prevent adverse impacts on production schedules.
- Engage in active supplier negotiations and comparisons to ensure the company secures the best value for materials.
- Maintain regular communication with the commercial and planning teams to keep the procurement of components in sync with production capabilities.
- Handle returns efficiently, coordinating with relevant departments to ensure swift resolution.
- Perform audits on suppliers to verify adherence to agreed standards and contractual obligations.
- Verify that the quality and performance of supplied materials/parts meet the company's acceptable criteria.
- Apply and track supplier performance through procurement KPIs.
- Conduct all purchasing activities in compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies.
- Oversee the administrative tasks associated with procurement.
