MBDA has a number of unique Simulation Engineer opportunities, to join our Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) Team at our Stevenage site!

Job Title: Simulation Engineer

Salary: Up to circa £55,000 depending on experience

Location: Stevenage (we may be able to offer a relocation package for this role)

Dynamic (hybrid) working: typically, 4 days per week on-site, due to workload classification

Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship.

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity:

As a Simulation Engineer, you will conduct the most complete test of missiles (other than a firing) and are MBDA's Missile test track. We design complex, real-time simulations that surround real missile hardware to allow us to ‘fire missiles indoors'.

  • Build and develop complex, real-time simulations for missile testing.
  • Conduct indoor firings and analyse missile performance.
  • Adapt to new engineering situations and abstract detail to understand the simulation and missile behaviour.
  • Collaborate with teams from various departments to ensure seamless integration and interface debugging.
  • Analyse system performance and provide solutions for optimisation.
  • Apply software design principles for real-time applications.
  • Work with the Linux operating system and programming languages like C/C++.
  • Use microcontrollers, like Raspberry Pi, for system development.

What we're looking for from you:

A broad engineering experience with deeper experience in some (not necessarily all) of the following:

  • Proven experience in software design for real-time applications.
  • Familiarity with Linux operating system.
  • Familiarity in C / C++ programming languages.
  • Experience with microcontrollers, such as Raspberry Pi.
  • Ability to analyse system performance and provide optimisation solutions.
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.

Knowledge of object-oriented approaches, to enhance simulation capabilities, would be beneficial.
