A unique opportunity has arisen within our Support Services department to work on MBDA's products in the Complex Weapons domain

Job Title: Principal Training Instructor

Salary: Up to £50,000 depending on experience

Location: Stevenage, Bristol or Bolton (We may be able to offer a relocation package for this role)

Dynamic (hybrid) working: We trust our people to agree, within their teams, where and when they can be most effective. Our Dynamic Working policy allows individuals flexibility around the hours they work and where they work. Typically for this role you will work 2-4 days per week on-site.

Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity:

This role requires someone with the specialist skills, knowledge and experience as a Product Training Analyst and Instructor to deliver tailored Maintainer and Operator training courses on MBDA products in the UK and all over the world. Someone who has an understanding of new and future technologies and desire to implement them into the training course to improve the Customer learning experience. You

  • Carry out TNA studies and produce TNA reports for the UK and overseas customers when tasked in accordance with contractual and customer requirements and MBDA processes.
  • Initiate and implement process and support future technology advances to deliver Continuous Improvement in MBDA Product Training delivery and Quality. Experience in developing Simulators, Emulators and Part Task Trainers would be an advantage.
  • Participate in developing, maintaining and modifying MBDA product training and engineering processes and procedures (where applicable) in assigned areas in response to technology developments, technical developments and identified operational need.
  • Lead Product Training customer support activities for MBDA products both in the field and at MBDA or customer depots/workshops (to include complex activities) as necessary and produce Training Plans, Course Training Plans, Lesson Plans and Training Material to support delivery of theoretical and/or practical training to UK and overseas customers.
  • Develop, plan and manage the delivery of operator and/or maintainer training packages and make inputs as required to cross-functional projects to ensure product training is delivered on time and to budget.
  • Be sensitive and appropriately responsive to the UK and Export customer's local culture, behaviour and requirements.
  • Keep up to date in relevant technology and technical areas.
  • Respond to Technical Queries from the Customer.
  • As you will be joining an established team, you will quickly need to add value.
  • Provide technical theoretical and practical training, as well as technical Field Support at the Customer's location, in the UK and overseas, within the scope of Company Approval.
  • Be able to maintain specified MBDA products in the field and workshop locations.
  • Assist and advise on technical issues arising on MBDA products when necessary in order to develop proposals for investigation and derivation of optimum solutions to improve equipment and weapon system availability and reliability for the customer.

What we're looking for from you:

  • We are looking for an Instructor with the appropriate Training and Operator or Maintainer qualifications with relevant in-depth practical experience to develop training courses and supporting media, the associated reports and eventual delivery of MBDA product training to the highest quality, on time and on cost.
  • An Instructor Qualification, defence or civilian equivalent is desirable coupled with experience of working within a Training Team environment.
  • Candidates should have experience in Training Needs Analysis (TNA) with an awareness of Joint Service Publication (JSP) 822 and the Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT).
  • Experience and a working knowledge of the Engineering Industry or the Military maintenance instructional environment including Air, Land and Sea Defence, weapon operator and maintainer training systems is preferable but not essential.
