Are you a motivated finance professional eager to take on a pivotal role? We're looking for an experienced and detail-oriented individual to join our clients finance team, providing essential financial insights and helping shape the future of our finance operations. In this role, you'll work closely with the Financial Controller, play a key part in strategic decision-making, and support the growth of our finance team. Here's what you'll be doing:
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive Month-End Success: Coordinate month-end activities to ensure all deadlines are met for Group reporting, contributing to a seamless and efficient close.
- Prepare Financial Insights: Produce comprehensive monthly management accounts, including Profit and Loss and Balance Sheets, with insightful analysis of cost of sales and overhead variances.
- Optimise Inventory Management: Review inventory, focusing on price and usage variances, maintaining standard costs, and identifying areas for improvement in slow-moving items.
- Ensure Accuracy with Reconciliations: Conduct monthly balance sheet reconciliations to maintain precision and transparency in financial reporting.
- Project Monitoring & Analysis: Oversee projects, including R&D initiatives and long-term contracts, providing ongoing support and analysis.
- Collaborate with Budget Holders: Build strong relationships with budget holders, offering assistance to resolve financial queries and support strategic budgeting.
- Enhance ERP and Processes: Actively support ERP developments, spotting and implementing opportunities for process improvement and automation.
- Strengthen Internal Controls: Work with the Financial Controller to establish and maintain internal controls, contributing to a robust financial environment.
- Assist with Budgeting & Forecasting: Play an integral role in the budgeting and forecasting processes, contributing valuable insights and analysis.
- Year-End & Audit Support: Help prepare for year-end activities, liaising with auditors to ensure a smooth process.
- Ensure Compliance with Regulations: Maintain compliance with HMRC requirements and IFRS accounting standards.
- Mentor and Develop Junior Team Members: Offer guidance, coaching, and support to junior finance staff, helping to foster their growth and expertise.
What You Bring to the Role:
Essential Qualifications and Skills:
- Qualified Accounting Professional: ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualification with a minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience.
- Independent and Organised: Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting, thriving on responsibility and ownership.
- Strong Communicator: Confident communicator with excellent written and verbal English skills, adept at liaising with various stakeholders.
- IT and Technical Savvy: Strong IT skills, particularly in Excel, with experience using ERP systems.
- Leadership Experience: Previous experience in supervising or mentoring finance staff (ideal but not essential).
