Event Operations Specialist

Location: Amersham (with regular UK travel)

Salary: £28,000 - £32,000

Full-Time Position - Career Progression Opportunities.

Do you have experience of planning, organising and running large events (150+)

Would you love the opportunity to contribute to the success and growth of our trading card game (TCG) events across the UK

Are you looking to grow and develop into an Events Manager role

Axion Now is a specialist events organiser and online store for Magic: The Gathering (MTG) and Disney Lorcana, collectible card games played by millions of people across the globe. We're the premier organiser of TCG events in the UK and have plans for rapid expansion, so we're now looking for a someone to collaborate closely with our Events Manager to:

  • Support the design and delivery of our national events programme - currently 8 weekend events, with 150+ attendees
  • Take the lead on all event operations, including managing event inventory, event set-up and tear-down
  • Identify, negotiate with and manage suppliers
  • Manage a team of up to 40 support staff at each event - judges, meet & greet staff, customer service, etc.
  • Lead and manage customer service
  • Drive improvements in event experience, customer service and efficiency

This isn't an events marketing role (you'll rely on our marketing team on that). Instead, you'll be very much focused on planning, organising and delivering large events - including overall responsibility for all the practicalities at each event.

We're based in Amersham town centre and you'll mainly be based there, but you'll obviously need to travel regularly across the UK to attend events, including set up and tear down. A full UK driving licence is essential.

Your working hours will be flexible to accommodate attendance at events, including evenings, weekends and overnight stays - but will generally be based on 40 hours per week.

We're offering a starting salary of £28-32k, with room for this to grow in the future as you take on more responsibilities.

The ideal candidate will be someone who has relevant experience, can see themselves becoming passionate about our brand, and who has the potential to grow into the Events Manager role over the next 12-18 months.

Ideally, you'll already have some experience or awareness of trading card games - you'll definitely need to be interested in building expert knowledge. We're particularly looking for:

  • Previous involvement in organising events with 150 or more attendees
  • Good commercial awareness and negotiation skills
  • Excellent communication skills with stakeholders, customers, and management
  • Strong project management skills
  • Can-do attitude and practical know-how, happy to pitch in and get things done
  • Openness to new ideas, with a willingness to continuously learn and improve

In return, we can provide a fun, friendly environment within a small family business, where you can make a difference and build your skills. You'll also have the opportunity to play a key role in:

  • Building on Axion Now's strong brand
  • Growing the success of our national events programme
  • Delivering exceptional customer experiences
  • Researching and implementing new technological solutions to enhance what we do

All while being trained and mentored by our current Events Manager, and supported by the rest of the Axion Now team.

If this sounds like the right role for you then please apply as soon as possible. Make sure you answer all the screening questions, so that we can properly evaluate your application, and we'll be in touch within a few days if we'd like to speak with you.

Our client requires candidates to complete a short questionnaire as part of the application process.

This will be sent back to you once you apply.

Please only apply if you match the criteria outlined.

Candidates must already have full rights to work in the UK. VISA sponsorship is not available.
