Role: Heating Engineer (Mobile)
Location: London (various sites)
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm
Salary: £38,000
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnosing faults and replacing central heating components in properties served by a communal system.
- Conform to relevant technical standards and follow technical drawings and plans to carry out maintenance and improvement works effectively.
- Provide professional service and represent the company to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Ensure inspections are recorded and faults reported in strict accordance with company, client and regulatory guidelines.
- Complete necessary paperwork to a satisfactory standard.
- Meet customer and contract expectations by carrying out works promptly to a high standard.
- Work safely, complying with current Health & Safety legislation and companies H&S policy.
QUALIFICATIONS
- NVQ Level 2 plumbing and Heating/ Mechanical services/ HVAC is required. V3 - GEM JD TEMPLATE
- It is desirable for the candidate to have relevant unvented hot water and ACS qualified, but not essential.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Knowledge
- Mechanical and Electrical components associated with repairs and installation works.
- Knowledge of HASAWA 1974 and working practices in a construction or building services sector.
- Understanding of district heating design principles and indwelling heating system components.
- Thorough knowledge in heating systems.
Skills
- To demonstrate and have excellent general fault finding/diagnostic skills and the ability to carry out necessary repairs/replacement of defective parts.
- To be able to display sound knowledge and experience within the Heating industry, including the repair and maintenance of commercial heating systems
- To be competent of draining down and re-filling of heating system/s to remove and replace defective/leaking radiators or associated isolation valves.
- You will be time-served with trade qualifications within your relevant discipline and be able to demonstrate sound technical competencies in identifying and rectifying faults to ensure systems remain operational and compliant.
- Able to safely isolate and perform repairs on wet heating systems and controls.
- Pragmatic, efficient, and confident approach to decision-making.
- Great communicator who can turn technical jargon into information understandable to different audiences of company (staff, clients, customers)
- Translate drawings and schematic diagrams and have a keen eye for detail.
- Have strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Being organised, keeping your workplace clean and tidy.
- Able to thoroughly examine and investigate issues in a heating setting and subsequently complete reports on findings with recommendations to resolve and fix the problem(s).
- Able to learn new processes in a reasonably fast-paced way.
Experience
- 5 years or more in installing, maintaining, repairing, and removing heating systems within a multi-occupancy dwelling setting.
- HIU experience (ideal but not essential)
- Proven track record of attempting to solve issues in the first instance in a manner that will not put the customers at risk of harm.
- Use a PDA to communicate and report to a planning/support team.
- Planning, prioritising, coordinating, multi-tasking and completing work assignments within deadlines in a busy environment.
