Veritas Education is working with a welcoming and supportive primary school in Watford that is seeking to appoint an experienced Teaching Assistant. About the Role:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the classroom teacher to support the learning and development of students. The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role and be passionate about helping students reach their full potential. Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) is highly desirable.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging lessons and supporting the learning objectives
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, particularly those with SEN, to help them access the curriculum
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, encouraging participation and engagement from all students
- Support students with their emotional, social, and behavioural needs, helping them to develop confidence and independence
- Assist in classroom management, ensuring a safe and productive learning space
- Work closely with the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to implement individual education plans (IEPs) and monitor student progress
- Support students during activities outside the classroom, such as on school trips or during break times
- Assist with general administrative tasks, such as preparing classroom materials and maintaining records of student progress

Ideal Candidate:
- Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, ideally with experience supporting children with SEN
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents
- A patient, compassionate, and flexible approach to working with children of different abilities
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow the direction of the class teacher and SENCO
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

The school is located in Watford, Hertfordshire, with good transport links and a welcoming school community.
