We are seeking a skilled and experienced CNC Machinist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Mazatrol programming and a strong understanding of milling processes.
Salary, Shift Allowance, and Overtime Benefits:
- Starting salary from £18.67 per hour, inclusive of shift allowance
- Shift working attracts a one-third premium in addition to the basic hourly rate
- Applicants must be open to working various shift patterns, alternating between day and afternoon shifts. Applicants must also be willing to operate a third shift, involving night shifts on a temporary or permanent basis, depending on business demands. Working night shifts would attract a higher shift premium rate, which will be discussed at the point of shift change.
- Overtime is paid at time and a half, and Sunday overtime is paid at double time
Duties Include:
- Planning the most efficient sequence of operations for the job
- Selecting appropriate cutting tools for each cut
- Selecting the right cutting speeds
- Setting tolerances
- Positioning the section for each cut
- Converting instructions into a numerically based program for the computer to follow
- Checking that work meets quality and technical guidelines
- Routine maintenance of machine tools
- Programming
Role Requirements:
- Understanding of engineering drawings and instructions
- Experience in using Mazatrol programming is essential
- Ability to visualize finished products
- Understanding of the properties of the materials you work with
- Examine raw material for dimensions, quantity, defects, and required heat lot/certification numbers
- Inspect finished work to verify dimensions and meet specifications
- Ensure that safe work practices are followed and adhered to
Skill Requirements:
- Experience and knowledge of milling
- Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, geometry, and algebra for calculating material fabrication
- Experience of CNC work or CNC qualification from a college or technical school
- Experience using Mazak machines
- Live tooling experience is advantageous
- Understanding of engineering drawings and instructions
- Knowledge in the use of precision measuring instruments and their application
- Programming experience is required
